If a thriving group of Monterey Bay area composers offers any indication, classical music is nowhere near its imminent demise. About a dozen musicians in the Monterey County Composers Forum meet monthly to workshop, experiment and riff on new ideas from classical to folk. They'll perform engaging new works for violin, cello and piano at this afternoon concert in a magically rustic venue, enlivening what's too often considered a dusty European genre with a contemporary, local aesthetic.
