Geoff Brown and Cory "Showtime" Robinson at Planet Gemini

  • When: Saturday, September 10, 2011, 9:15 p.m.
  • Where: The Planet Gemini, Monterey
  • Cost: $8 - $10
  • Age limit: Not available
  • Categories: Comedy

Comedian Geoff Brown, who's been seen on NBC's Spy TV, UPN's Girlfriends and his own BET Half Hour Grandstand, snaps on his Uncle Snookie teaching school kids "hood" spelling, like "B-O-F-U-V-M. Anybody? Becky? Brent? That's 'bofe of um'" Or, for further translation, "both of them." He's got a shrill voice like Chris Tucker, but, like that skinny comedian, uses it to good effect, projecting his jokes like a Gatling gun. And, like Eddie Griffith, he makes comedic marks of his family, so it feels really homey-like. Opener Cory "Showtime" Robinson, a San Jose State alum, is pretty raw and quick. He says he used to work out to lower his cholesterol and improve his cardiovascular: "Now, I just don't want to have titties anymore." If that tickles, come on through. [WR]
