This is going to be easy. All you really have to know about these five synchronized gentlemen carrying on the torch of soul, Motown and R&B is "Papa Was a Rollin' Stone," "My Girl," "Ain't Too Proud to Beg," "Get Ready," "I Can't Get Next to You," "Just My Imagination (Running Away with Me)." But the story is deeper than those big hits suggest. The groups' various members and managers have shaped the Temptations to change and update their sound to match the times, even morphing into '60s psychedelic soul, '70s funk and disco and even a—say it ain't so—Auto-Tune track released last year.
