Monterey County Artists Studio Tour

Though Salinas, Marina, Big Sur and the outer regions of the county are absent, this free, self-guided artists studio tour encircles the cities of Seaside, Carmel, Pacific Grove, Carmel Valley, Pebble Beach, Carmel Highland and Monterey. Even with the omissions, this can still be a pretty unwieldy event: 61 artists open their studios to you all day over the weekend. But it's fun and fascinating if you see it from the point of view of being invited to snoop around in the private spaces of creative folks (they will probably tidy up the place and offer you snacks); it's deep in personal time and interaction, and it's dotted with surprise after surprise.
