The theater company brings to life a story of twin brothers from modern times who descend into Xibalba, an ancient Mayan underworld. Compelled to play a ball game by the realm’s rulers, they must grapple with both dark forces and themselves as they reach for redemption. “The Magic Twins” is the grim third part of the Popol Vuh cycle (drawn from Quiche Mayan myth) performed by ETC this summer. Viewers experience a phantasmagoria of captivating puppetry, sound, and lighting in the course of a dramatic tale.
