Awareness in Green Exhibit at Marjorie Evans Gallery

Gaze for a moment at the dew drops on a leaf, or the rough surface of a plant stalk, and your perspective shifts. Local photographer Virna Low zooms in on the minutae in our environment we pass by routinely, drawing out texture and color in vivid detail. It's part of what Low calls the New Eye Movement, all about training the eye on what she sees as the essence of objects and natural forms. Besides capturing beauty with elegance, Low's mission is also to inspire an awareness of our relationship with the Earth in honoring Earth Day. These close-ups of the backdrop of our lives are sure to foster such an awareness, as Low gives viewers a new set of eyes through her lens. [SR]
