For the past year, the Peace Resource Center has teamed up with MIIS graduate students to provide free English as a Second Language classes to the community. Now the two come together for a musical showcase of global proportions to benefit the nonprofit Peace Resource Center. The cultural hodgepodge features the three-part harmony of headliner Rhythm & Rogue, busting out all genres of music from the 1930’s-70’s, and the highly anticipated Roberto Barahona, performing a new collection of social messages and poetry conveyed through traditional Latin American tunes. With over 25 years together under their belts, the original members of Rhythm & Rogue include vocalist and percussionist Trudy Davis Swift with Stefani Mistretta on acoustic and jazz guitar while showcasing her songbird skills. Local dance teacher Janet Butler harmonizes beautifully with the other two with her tap dancing beats and joint control of the drums. Enjoy a cosmopolitan array of delicious homemade goodies crafted by multicultural MIIS students, as well as wine, coffee and tea, all available for a small donation. Mistretta even plans to lend a green thumb, harvesting sweet pea seeds from her personal garden to sell for a small fee at the event. [HG]
