Women Who Write at Henry Miller Library

The ancient Roman poet Horace might be best remembered for his raunchy sexual poems, but he also offered up some sage advice on the point of writing it: “to educate and delight.” It's in that spirit that creatorsoffer up art for art's sake in Women Who Write, modeled after a classic literary salon. This celebration of creativity has been hailed as a much-needed reprieve from an increasingly ironic, fast-paced world of artistic output. Readers and performers include include Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist Jane Smiley, Korel Tunador of the Goo Goo Dolls and comic actress Mo Gaffney. They'll share works-in-progress, then writer/actress/producer Vicki Abelson leads a discussion—audience included— where works can leave the page and take on a personal meaning. [SR]
