Beso Negro at Golden State Theatre

Work yourself into a hand-clapping, foot-stomping gypsy daze with Beso Negro, the kind of band that will make you yearn for a dark tavern dance floor or the soft glow of a campfire. The band’s international lineup brings together traditions of gypsy swing, blues, and folk, with a hard-driving modern sensibility. Guitarist Javier Jimenez channels the masterful stylings of jazz guitarist Django Reinhardt, while guitarist and singer Adam Roach draws his “personal messiah” Louis Armstrong into his own soulful, though less raspy, vocals. Joining Beso Negro is Santa Cruz based The Juncos, an American roots outfit whose tales of drunkards, ramblers, and ghosts maneuver the musical landscape from honkytonk to bluegrass. AT
