Annual Holiday Potluck at Hamming Astronomy Center

Unless you're a survivalist or a hot air balloon enthusiast, you probably won't be invited to a more idiosyncratic venue for a holiday potluck this year. The astronomy office of MIRA (Monterey Institute for Research in Astronomy)—the space telescope on Chews Ridge—is a more accessible feast of skyward wonder and science, especially with Dr. Bruce Weaver in the spot to talk about "40 Years of Research and Education in Astronomy."
4-8pm. Hamming Astronomy Center, 200 8th St., Marina. RSVP to 883-1000, www.mira.org.
