Legendary songwriter and recording artist, recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award by BBC Radio 2, the Artist of the Year at the Americana Music Awards and the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame, compared to Neil Young (by Roger Waters) and revered by Kris Kristofferson and Johnny Cash, John Prine rides into town with his guitar and his evocative songs of the Midwest. His earliest recorded material, The Singing Mailman Delivers, recorded in 1970 and released October of 2011, is tucked under his arm and if the GST audience is lucky, he'll deliver some of that real deal country folk stuff. Justin Townes Earle, son of Steve Earle, opens the show with songs from five albums recorded with Bloodshot Records. [WR]
