Just as one theater company closes the curtain on a murder/mystery, Magic Circle Theatre flings open the curtains on another one. This one, though, is a smart, tight, twisty labyrinth that may trick you again and again, though it never loses sight of its own clever maneuvers or its command of language. Written by Ira Levin, who wrote the the realistic supernatural thriller Rosemary's Baby, Deathtrap follows the machinations of a mystery writer in the throes of a dry spell who tries to connive his way into stealing his brilliant student's jackpot hit script. Their intellectual and mortal combat dances around humor, intelligence and deception. [WR]
