The finale of Richard Wagner's magnum opus is broadcast live in HD from. Gotterdammerung ("Twilight of the Gods") if the fourth of Wagner's Ring cycle operas, which took him over 20 years to complete. It was first performed at the Bayreuth Opera House in Germany in 1876. This classic tragedy where warring gods bring about the destruction of Valhalla, as witnessed by earthbound humans, is produced on a highly advanced stage at the Met by Robert Lepage. Fabio Luisi, conducts, while opera all stars like soprano Deborah Voigt and tenor Jay Hunter Morris bring the characters to life.
