As a part of its Words On Stage series, PacRep Theatre's School of Dramatic Arts presents a theatrical rendition of "The Adventures of the Black Girl in Her Search for God" a short story by 20th century playwright, George Bernard Shaw. Written in 1932 in response to the horrific abuse perpetrated upon Africans within Europe, Shaw's fable documents the spiritual quest of a young, "feminist adventurer". Our protagonist encounters various characters that humorously expose the foolish inconsistencies present in conventional religions, and boldly reveals the racism inherent within the culture. This free performance is directed by Suzanne Stum, features Kaylin Shubnell as its heroine, and was adapted for the stage by Peter Eberhardt. Donations are welcome.
2pm Sun. and 7:30pm Mon. The Indoor Forest Theater, Santa Rita and Mountain View (Beneath the stage of the Outdoor Forest Theater), Carmel. Free. 622-0703, www.schoolofdramaticarts.org.
