So the Monterey connection is tenuous, but this show is mighty impressive. Large format works on paper by two of the giants of the Pop Art world (shoot, the art world in general) comes in from various collections and lands with the force of fame and dazzling iconic stuff, right in our own backyard. The exhibition opens Friday, Oct. 28, with a Pop Art costume party in which you are invited to dress as a famous pop cultural iconic person. Also opening with the two giants are John Haley: Berkeley School Astract Expressionist and Cultural Collisions: Prints by Enrique Chagoya. Pop Icons runs to Feb. 26. 2012. On Sunday, Oct. 30, the museum screens Warhol's Camp, one of his infamous documentaries of the creative freaks referred to as Warhol's Superstars, shot at New York's legendary Factory.
