Faust: The Met Live in HD at Century Cinemas Del Monte

Wanna dance with the devil? Well, let Faust show you how, and then how to wind up in hell. This encore performance of Faust (based on the first part of Goethe's play Faust), which was originally broadcast live in HD, gives audiences a chance to see an opera that premiered at the Met in 1883. It is one of the Met's most performed operas, which debuted in Paris' Theatre Lyrique in 1859. Deplorable Faust is played by Jonas Kaufmann, while the seductive role of Mephistopheles is taken on by Rene Pape. Marina Poplavskaya, a soprano in high demand, plays the role of Marguerite. This five-act opera runs just under 4 hours and 30 minutes, so there will be potty breaks and time to refill that popcorn bucket. [GS]
