There's no doubt that Santa Cruz-based Kombucheros has a knack for inspiring an audience to shake it. It might be the group's unique brand of Afro-Peruvian rhythms which resonate on a near-instinctual level, propelling listeners feet first into the primordial ecstasy of inherited memory. Or perhaps it's the infectious enthusiasm and genuine passion which band creators, Osvald Vergara and Anthony Leone, bring to each performance. Whatever the culprit, a Kombucheros performance should not be missed. This collective of North and South American musicians and dancers will be featured at Pierce Ranch Vineyards on Jan. 13.
