New Exhibits at Pacific Grove Art Center

PGAC's first round of art shows for 2012 continues its tradition of filling its four showing spaces (five if you count the perpendicular hallway as two separate spaces, which they often do) with an unrelated diversity of artworks. Lyle and Rome Brumfield are a sculptor couple—he more studied, she more spontaneous—who look to capitalize on synergy and contrast. Photographer Jean Brenner brings a whole spectrum of faces from her deep travels across Muslim countries. Kennry T. White II was handpicked by artist Oreland C. Joe for the youth-mentoring Eagles in FLight Art Association, which led to study at the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, NM, which led to art shows of his contemporary and traditional paintings across the country. Richard Greenberg's retrospective gazes on his psychedelic portraits of regular folks and creative stars like Keith Richards. Julie Terflinger says, "I make faces. Not in front of a mirror but with paint, chalk, ink and watercolor." [(See Art story.) WR]
