This forum, held in the library's Community Room, covers the current SAFE California campaign to get rid of the death penalty and replace it with life in prison without the possibility of parole. Other topics include the reform of the Safe Communities program, which vies for local law agencies' enforcement of federal immigration policies, and AB-109, which supports sending low-level criminal offenders to county instead of state prisons. Phillip Crawford, President of the Monterey Bay Area chapter of the National Lawyers' Guild, introduces the forum.
1:45-3pm. Monterey Public Library, 625 Pacific St., Monterey. Free. 624-5725.
