This musical tour is something of an anthropological world tour, taking listeners from Dvorak's Czech homage to gypsy tunes, "My Homeland," on to tango and flamenco rhythms of the Iberian Peninsula with Edouard Lalo's Symphonie Espagnole and ending with Schumann's stately portrayal of the Cathedral of Cologne in his Rhenisch Symphony. Under direction of renowned guest conductor Peter Bay and featuring virtuoso violinist Michael Ludwig, the powerhouse musical program is sure to have audiences not only foot-tapping but also transported to remote parts of the world; conveniently, pre-concert lectures an hour before each performance provide historical context on the compositions and composers if listening alone isn't enough.
