Kicking off the 2012 History Lecture Series organized by the Carmel Public Library is a historian with some seriously deep roots in Carmel, lending even more credence to his vast historical knowledge of the area. Jack Galante is the great-grandson of Carmel’s founder Frank Devendorf and that is precisely where he’ll center his talk on early Carmel history. His mother, Jane Galante, recently donated rare documents and artifacts from the early 20th century that tie into Carmel’s founding. If you’re looking to astound friends with your depth of Carmel history knowledge, this free event is not to be missed. [JE]
7pm. Sunset Center, Carpenter Hall, San Carlos Street between Eighth and Ninth, Carmel. Free. 624-2811, carmelpubliclibraryfoundation.org.
