Before Monterey County gets another steady rain, this might the only opportunity to experience a deluge under an open sky. Best part is: no umbrella necessary. This is the Gene Kelly classic (which he co-directed and stars in), shown in perfect Carmel-by-the-Sea weather conditions that may require bringing along a blanket to snuggle up to your date with. Made in 1952, Singin' In the Rain has been on nearly every applicable AFI top 100 movies in history lists. Debbie Reynolds co-stars with Kelly, and her character inspires the famous dance by Kelly on the street in which he sings the title song with an umbrella and lampposts as his dance partners. [GS]
