Cyrano de Bergerac at Outdoor Forest Theater

The Forest Theater Guild's 2012 season continues with Cyrano de Bergerac. This Anthony Burgess (A Clockwork Orange) adaptation of Edmond Rostand's ill-fated story of Cyrano is being directed by Mickie Mosley with an ensemble cast of 25. The plot follows Cyrano de Bergerac (Richard Boynton), a soldier in the French army with many talents. Not only is he an exceptional duelist, but he is also a skilled poet. However, Cyrano has a tremendously large nose and suffers from self-doubt because of his physical appearance. His insecurities prevent him from expressing his love for the beautiful and intelligent Roxanna (Michelle Vallentyne). Instead, he feeds poetic pick-up lines to her younger, more attractive suitor. Also featuring Patrick McEvoy as Comte deGuiche and Timothy Samaneigo as Christian de Neuvillette. A gala "Renaissance Faire" is slated for the opening Saturday (noon-2pm and 6:30-8pm) with libations, feasts of food and period entertainment in addition to the performance. [AZ]
