The young summer's final installment of Films in the Forest at the Outdoor Forest Theater ends on a question mark. Anonymous brings up a silly question, with an all-star cast, regarding the authorship of the literary works by William Shakespeare. This is pseudo-history at its most dramatic with Roland Emmerich (Independence Day, 2012) as the director. Rhys Ifans and Vanessa Redgrave dynamic acting save this film from its hypothetical suppositions to the origins of Shakespeare's works, ranging from intrigues in the Royal court to political maneuverings to people motivated by money and greed. Bring blankets, picnic materials, and warm hats for the predictably cool summer evenings of Carmel. [GS]
