The love songs come in four different languages—Russian, Greek, Italian and Hawaiian—at this local Lovefest and fundraiser. The Something Cool Trio, featuring Bill Minor on piano and vocals, Jenn Shauf on drums and Heath Proskin on bass, performs jazz standards and tunes by Radiohead and Tom Waits. Flutist Richard Mayer joins them on a few tracks, and a love-song-filled set features his wife, Norma Mayer, a Soprano lauded by audiences from the Italian opera stage to the African American church. Proceeds support dance, art and music at the PGAC. Come for the melodies. Stay for the love. [AZ]
