This month Thomas focuses on Salmon in Monterey, a lucrative but short lived Monterey industry disrupted twice by WWI trade restrictions and later the bombing of Pearl Harbor. "The Japanese fished for both abalone and salmon, but salmon was king," Thomas writes in his book, Japanese On The Monterey Peninsula.
