Counter culture icon Ken Kesey rocketed to literary stardom 50 years ago with the novel and Jack Nicholson's unforgettable lead role as Randy McMurphy in the film version, winner of seven Oscars, made Cuckoo's Nest one of the all-time great American cultural treasures. After a 30-year absence from The Western Stage, Mark Shilstone Laurent is back to direct the season opener. Thanks to generous donations and grants by the David and Lucile Packard Foundation, the Community Foundation of Monterey County and the S.T.A.R. Foundation reduced ticket prices will be offered this season to help the Monterey County community have better access to the arts. [DVD]
