Films in the Forest: Play Misty for Me at Outdoor Forest Theater

It scared the bejeezus out of guys in the 1970s who thought they would just play the field, 16 years before Fatal Attraction tread its unpredictable footsteps of deranged relationships. Clint Eastwood plays a Carmel radio DJ (the call letters are even KRML) who picks up a woman, has a fling, then finds she's a psycho. The woman even gets committed, then becomes roommates with Clint's on-screen girlfriend. It was the '70s. You'll love it for its dated cultural style and timeless local location shots (and the Outdoor Forest Theater's twin fireplaces and outdoor dining and cuddling under the stars). Kids not recommended.
8:30pm (sunset). Outdoor Forest Theater, Santa Rita and Mountain View, Carmel. $7/adult. 626-1681, www.foresttheaterguild.org.
