It's one thing to hone the technical agility it takes to play challenging works by Haydn, Tchaikovsky, Bach and Arensky. It takes another dimension of discipline and instrumental expertise to instruct the next generation of aspiring musical greats, but the Baumer String Quartet is up to the task. They'll spend a week of intensive practicing with middle and high school students during the Monterey Chamber Music Workshop, crafting tunes both elegant and bold to perfection, then open up their final rehearsals, plus two concerts, to the public.
