This is far better than pasting black-and-white chase sequences of the 1935 Hitchcock spy film into a color, 3-D format. This goofy theatrical interpretation brings all the famous scenes—daring escapes and elaborate chase sequences, rugged spies and creepy villains, seductive damsels in need of rescuing and a dashing hero to save the day—to the stage. You'll recognize the storyline from The 39 Steps, but that's all. In this spoof, four performers rely on lightning-quick changes to play multiple characters—139 in all! With a pace this fast, the suspense never lasts for more than a moment, but the absurdity and entertainment lasts throughout the entire show. [SR]
