Ann Packer at Pacific Grove Library

Ann Packer introduces her newest book, Swim Back to Me, a novella and five short stories covering the spectrum of loss, from loved ones to dreams, as young boy on the brink of his teens growing up in the Bay Areas of the 1970s, a grieving mother, a divorced, middle aged woman now newly-wed and an expectant father. The title, comes from the name of a song a grieving mother listens to out of her son's music collection, and sets the book to work on Packer's generously humanistic themes about the past. Packer is the author of bestsellers Mendocino and The Dive from Clausen's Pier, her essays have appeared in the New Yorker, Vogue and the Washington Post. [JB]
