The Carmel Music Society presents a recital by acclaimed classical pianist Garrick Ohlsson, featuring the work of nineteenth century Hungarian composer and pianist, Franz Liszt. At the young age of thirteen, Ohlsson began to study classical composition at the Julliard School, and was trained by the late, great Claudio Arrau. In 1970, he became the first American to win the Chopin International Piano Competition, and has become one of the world’s leading advocates and performers of Chopin’s work. Ohlsson has performed at a variety of prestigious venues, including Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall and has appeared with Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic and the BBC Scottish Symphony. Ohlsson is also a prolific recording artist, and received a Grammy Award for his work on the complete Beethoven sonatas, released under Bridge Records. Ohlsson is co-founder of the San Francisco-based FOG Trio. A limited number of tickets are available for purchase online. Tickets can also be purchased both by phone and at the door. [EP]
