A celebration will be held for jazz flutist Ali Ryerson and pianist/composer Charles Loos in honor of the release of their latest CD, “A Tribute to Hidden Valley.” Loos is known as a “veteran of the European Jazz scene.” He had has recorded several solo CDs and has accompanied acclaimed jazz artists such as Johnny Griffin, Chet Baker and Toots Thielmans as well. Loos is currently a professor of jazz at the Academie Internationale, Institute National, and The Conservatoire in Brussels. He has twice been commissioned by Hidden Valley to produce original compositions. A graduate of the Hartt School of Music, Ali Ryerson studied under Harold Bennett and John Wion, and has released no fewer than 20 jazz albums. She has performed at Carnegie Hall, The Kennedy Center, and the Monterey Jazz Festival to name a few, with the likes of Kenny Barron, Frank Wess, and Luciano Pavarotti. She was nominated for Jazz Flutist of the Year by the Jazz Journalist Association, currently conducts master classes worldwide, and is the author of the Jazz Flute Practice Method.
