This kid-saturated musical is based on the 1970 Disney classic animated feature about Thomas O'Malley and the rag-tag Alley Cats who band together to rescue Duchess and her Aristokittens who are abandoned in the Parisian countryside by Madame's jealous butler Edgar. If you haven't seen the movie, this may sound confusing, but PacRep's musical promises to be an accessible and family-approving romp that, seemingly, works like the kids version of the musical Cats, studded with 1970s musical artifacts like "The Artistocats," "Scales and Arpeggios" and "Ev'rybody Wants to Be a Cat." Maryann Rousseau directs more than 50 kids in this production that...I've got to say it...must have been like herding cats.
7:30pm Fri-Sat; 2pm Sat-Sun. Golden Bough Theatre, Monte Verde between Eighth and Ninth, Carmel. $7-$20; discounts for seniors over 65, students, kids, teachers, active military. 622-0100, www.pacrep.org.
