Famed photographer Ansel Adams and LSD guru Timothy Leary have led programs there, while music acts including Joan Baez and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young have performed on its grounds. Needless to say, Big Sur's Esalen Institute, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, has been the site of some memorable events. Tonight, Esalen President Gordon Wheeler will conduct a presentation about the non-profit's history, programs and people. [ST]
