This isn't your everyday quinceanera or Cinco de Mayo mariachi ensemble. As America's first all-female mariachi group, these chicas bring a sensitive and feminine touch to a form of music largely dominated by hombres. After a sold out show last spring the group is coming back to fill the CSUMB campus air with their thrilling crescendos and heart-rending vocals. Director José Hernandez has recently added a few new artists to the group, prompting him to write "new and more inspiring arrangements and compositions for the new millennium." Bring your folklorico spirit and these sweet-sounding senoritas will bring the authentic Mexican sound. [JE]
