Three accomplished authors talk about their work, their lives as writers and the importance of supporting community libraries. Jane Hamilton is the author of six novels. Her first, The Book of Ruth, won the PEN/Ernest Hemingway Foundation Award for best first novel and was a selection of the Oprah Book Club. Her short stories have appeared in Harper's magazine. Anne LeClaire is a former journalist who has published eight novels, including her award-winning memoir, Listening Below the Noise. Her work has been published in 24 countries and has appeared in publications such as Redbook and the New York Times. Gail Tsukiyama has been the recipient of the Academy of American Poets Award and the PEN/Oakland Josephine Miles Award. The San Francisco-born, Bay Area resident has taught at SF State, UC-Berkeley and Mills College. Proceeds of the event go to the Carmel Public Library Foundation. [DVD]
