The film festival continues its winding run from San Jose, Santa Cruz and Seaside's CSUMB to wrap up with some pretty significant works in Salinas. On Thursday, at 7pm, Hartnell College's Steinbeck Hall screens 24 Days in Brooks, about the organization of immigrant workers in a conservative white farming town, and The Battle of the Invisibles, about undocumented workers battling a supermarket in SoCal (sponsored by UFCW). Then the Steinbeck Center, in the midst of its 32nd Annual Steinbeck Festival, screens Woody Guthrie documentaries Roll on Columbia (10:30am and 7pm Fri, 1:15pm Sun), about the troubadour's one-time gig writing for the Bonneville Power Administration, and This Machine Kills Fascists (2:15pm Fri, 9am Sat, 10am Sun), a sprawling biography of Guthrie. Great reasons to take time off from work. [WR]
