The main events of this year's literary, art, film, lecture, eating, music and walking tour festival take place at the Steinbeck Center, but it spreads out all over the county in its celebration of our native Salinas Pulitzer Prize for Literature winner and Woody Guthrie and his 100th centennial. It starts with some geographic orientation Thursday with walking tours, then fully blossoms Friday and Saturday, and finishes on a nice note of a free day on Sunday. Coming to join in on the fun and immersion: authors Susan Straight (Take One Candle Light a Room) and Peter H. Hoss (Born in Yosemite), filmmakers Alex Fabros (Unsung Heroes) and CSUMB's Enid Baxter Blader, Woody's daughter Nora Guthrie, artist and graphic novelist Jamie Cortez, scholars Susan Schillinglaw and Gavin Cologne-Brookes, musicians Grammy-nominee Frankie Fuchs and Bob Danziger, professors Gavin Jones and Persis Karim, playwrights Lee Stetson and Matthew Spangler, Rolling Stone contributing editor David Wild, artists Michelle Magdalena Maddox and Corinne O. Takara, and more. (See cover story.)
