The Monterey Peninsula Choral Society celebrates a milestone before achieving another in July as part of an American delegation to the 2012 Summer Olympics. The choir celebrates 50 years with two concerts featuring classical pieces such as Beethoven's "Hallelujah," haunting spirituals like "My Lord What a Mornin'" and songs from The Phantom of the Opera and West Side Story with modern arrangements conducted by Sean Boulware. The gala reception includes a small bites tasting menu, wine, live music and a silent auction. [JB]
