  • Where: Hartnell College, Salinas

Journey to destinations as remote as the Milky Way, or stick to the animal kingdom. Hartnell and Alisal Union School District's annual science and health extravaganza provides windows into the high-tech with robotics demonstrations, a NASA exhibit, planetarium star shows and a solar telescope offering a safe, direct glimpse of the sun. There's plenty of family fun to be had on earth, too, with zoology, biology and geology demos and nutritional information. There's also good old-fashioned entertainment throughout the day with soccer, games, dance performances, live music by Youth Orchestra Salinas and Samz School of Rock, and even an appearance by Ms. Latina World 2010, Valencia de la Vega. [SR]

11am-3pm. Hartnell College, 411 Central Ave., Salinas. Free. 755-6803, www.hartnell.edu.
