Tim Thomas researched, wrote and lectured on Monterey's fishing communities for 16 years as the historian and curator for the Monterey Maritime and History Museum. He co-authored Monterey's Waterfront with local historian Dennis Copeland and wrote the recent The Japanese on the Monterey Peninsula. He's currently working on a book about "Pop" Ernest Doelter, coming 2013, and talks about the so-called Abalone King in this free lecture.
