Monterey's flagship squid comes fried, marinated and in sandwiches, the clam chowder New England- and Manhattan-style in bread bowls or cups, so you're well-covered on that front—but this Memorial Day weekend event is quite the mouthful beyond the titular treats too. There's three bands each day for three days, including Red Beans & Rice, Nu-Horizon and John "Broadway" Tucker; carnival games and a videogame trailer; calamari cleaning demos and other culinary classes; and all sorts of classic fair-style food stands dishing things like fried artichokes, smoked salmon sandwiches and shrimp-crab cocktail done by wharf chefs. 11am-7pm Sat-Sun; 11am-6pm Mon. Custom House Plaza next to Fisherman's Wharf, Monterey. No admission. 649-6545.
