The community of Carmel welcomes the latest works of Eleen Auvil, Pamela Takigawa, Justin Ward, Susan Giacometti, and Andrea Johnson to the art association this month. Printmakers Eleen Auvil and Paula Takigawa will present a new set of drawings, paintings, prints, and sculptures inspired by their fascination of the feathered creatures of the wilderness, from the beautifully textured owl to the colorful barnyard fowl. Newcomer to the Carmel Art Association, Justin Ward, will be presenting his collection entitled, 'Etchings of the Monterey Peninsula,' a tribute to the city's historic shoreline as well as the equally unique architecture that inhabits it. Ward creates timeless pieces of his native Monterey typically using unconventional material such as antique parchment to capture the beauty of his beloved city. Susan Giacometti's Cannery Row Series limited edition paper works will also be presented as well as new acrylic paintings from Andrea Johnson, which explore the puzzling mysteries of the natural world. The art association will also host a colorful Dia de los Muertos altar complete with sugar skulls, paper flowers, and other common artifacts of the holiday to honor the lives of local artists Carole Minou, Virginia Fry, and Mike Donahue who passed away this last year. Don't miss out on this unique art experience!
10-5pm. Dolores Street between 5th & 6th, Carmel. Free. 624-6176. www.carmelart.org.
