Coast guard boats and a helicopter came to the aid of tall ship Bounty off Cape Hatteras last week shortly before she sank amid 5.5 meter waves due to hurricane Sandy. A class A tall ship the Bounty beats the Lady Washington in size and number of sails, but the Washington state brig previously outfamed Bounty--most notably as the HMS Interceptor in Pirates of the Carribean: Curse of the Black Pearl, and the Starship Enterprise's namesake on the holodeck of Star Trek. Launched in 1989, the brig Lady Washington is a 112 foot working replica of one of the first U.S. flagged ships to explore the west coast of North America, and an awesome reminder of the recently lost ship Bounty, its crew member and captain.
