Monarch Film Festival at Lighthouse Cinemas

Pacific Grove dips the tips of it's butterfly wings into the world of film festivals. The 1st annual Monarch Film Festival is a two-day event showcasing feature length films, shorts, documentaries, and the work of student filmmakers. Twenty-three films in all will be shown the 14th and 15th on topics ranging from the exploration of Mars to the history of the Pony Express in the United States. This might be the only chance to see some of these films, even if some do make it on the indie film fest circuit. There is an award ceremony on the 15th, and the winning films from each category will be screened a second time. All day passes available at the film fest website, individual screening tickets available at the door. [GS]
4pm Wed; 4pm Thu. Lighthouse Cinemas, 525 Lighthouse Ave, Pacific Grove. $50 all day pass. 643-1333. www.monarchfilmfestival.com
