President’s Speaker Series: Candace Thille at CSUMB Tanimura and Antle Library

As any CSU Monterey Bay Otter knows, these are not encouraging times for college students. Demand for degrees is up, but state support is down and changing demographics only complicate the picture. Candace Thille, director of the Open Learning Initiative at Carnegie Mellon University, speaks on “Disruptive Innovation in Higher Education” as part of CSUMB’s annual President’s Speaker Series. She argues that colleges and universities should rethink their approaches in order to serve more students and maintain quality with fewer resources—especially if the U.S. workforce is to stay competitive in a rapidly changing world. Sounds like educational leaders need to hit the books. [KA]
