Monterey Bay Poetry Consortium at East Village Coffee Lounge

Catherine Al-Meten has chronicalized her life experiences over the last forty years through her art of poetry, striving through her body of work to reaffirn the purpose and beauty of life amidst war, separation, and the search to find meaning. Her book Shadows bridges her coastal homes in Oregon and the Central Coast and her adult life with memories of a child in the shadow of WWII. Carmel Valley artist and poet Richard Nielsen bridges distances in his works too, catalogued in The Fallen Leaf Anthology, reflecting his feelings and dreams as an Australian studying, traveling and living about in the world from Europe and Asia to Latin America.
