In the first matches since Ryder Cup legend Seve Ballesteros death from cancer, the European cup's players are already paying tribute to the golfer. Akin to the Arnold Plamer of European golf the fiery, charismatic, risk-taking player known for, among other things, making a birdie from a parking lot during his 1979 British Open win, is being honored with a tournament at Pebble Beach. The Unique Par 3 tournament at Peter Hay Golf Course is open to all golfers and features live music, fine food and wine, and each of nine teams of four is captained by a special guest celebrity golfer. The Seve Legends Tournament raises money for Ballesteros' foundation raising money for brain tumor research.
