With American pop stars like Madonna rushing to the defense of free speech in Russia this last summer, a local eye in Russia can give some ground level insight. A former Russian specialist from the DLI and chaplin with studies in anthropology, John Burk has since travelled to Russia in 2005, 2008 and 2011. He gives an overview of Russia's cultural and political events and issues with info and photos from his most recent trip.
